Captions for UGC Ads
A UGC ad is a creator talking to camera, and in a paid feed most people meet it with the sound off. Meta's ad specs for Reels and Stories list video captions as "optional, but recommended", and TikTok's creative guidance tells advertisers to use captions or text overlays for context (both read 19 October 2026). This page is for UGC creators and the brands that brief them. Upload each finished cut as an MP4 or MOV, fix the brand name and every claim in the browser editor, set the captions above the area where the call-to-action sits, and export an MP4 with the captions burned in. Watermark-free export comes with every paid pack, from $4 (₹49 in India, €4 in the euro area) for 20 minutes, paid once. 3 free minutes to start.

What the captions look like
Problem hook in the first second
I almost returned this. Then I used it for a week.
The first caption is the hook a muted viewer reads. Keep it to one short line and set it large in the middle of the frame.
Claim that has to match the brief
Holds 32 ounces and stays cold for 24 hours.
Numbers and product claims are where a draft slips and where a brand's legal team looks first. Check each figure against the brief.
Ingredient and product name
The niacinamide serum goes on before my moisturizer.
Ingredient, brand and product names are the words most likely to come out wrong. Fix the spelling once and search the draft for repeats.
Offer and call to action
Use code SPRING for 15% off your first order.
Meta's ad specs ask for the bottom 35% of a 9:16 ad to stay clear of text. Keep this line at 50 to 60% height so the button does not cover the code.
What you get
- Watermark-free export with every paid pack, starting with the $4 Starter
- Captions corrected word by word, including brand names, sizes, prices and codes
- A height slider that keeps captions above Meta's call-to-action area in 9:16 ads
- Hook-first styles where the spoken word lights up or pops, including the free Poppins Italic
- Minutes paid once per pack, not a monthly seat, which suits creators who deliver in bursts
Where it helps
- UGC creators delivering captioned 9:16 and 4:5 cuts to a brand
- Brands and agencies captioning creator footage before it goes into Ads Manager
- Testimonial and unboxing videos repurposed as paid social ads
- Small shops testing several hooks on the same product video
How it works
How it works
Step 1
Cut every aspect ratio before captioning
Export a 9:16 cut for Reels, Stories and TikTok and a 4:5 cut for feed placements. CapsAI captions the shape you upload and does not crop or resize it.
Step 2
Upload each cut and choose the spoken language
One file per upload, MP4 or MOV, up to 10 minutes. Captioning uses minutes equal to the video's length, so each extra version costs only its own running time.
Step 3
Correct the hook, the brand name and every claim
Read the first caption, the product name, prices, sizes and codes against the brief. Split long lines so the hook lands as a short phrase.
Step 4
Style it and set the height for ad placements
Pick a hook-first style, choose 1 to 4 words per frame, and set the Vertical position slider to about 50 to 60% so 9:16 captions sit above the call-to-action.
Step 5
Export and deliver the MP4
Export at 1080p on Starter or up to 4K on Creator and Pro, watermark-free on every paid pack. Download the finals at once.

Questions
Do UGC ads need captions?
The platforms recommend them. Meta's ad specs for Instagram Reels and Stories list video captions as "optional, but recommended", and TikTok's creative guidance says to use captions or text overlays to provide context (both read 19 October 2026).
Where should captions go in a Meta or TikTok ad?
For 9:16 Reels and Stories ads, Meta asks for about 14% of the top, 35% of the bottom and 6% of each side to stay free of text. Set CapsAI's Vertical position slider near 50 to 60%. TikTok asks for content inside the UI safe zone of its ad specs; check the Ads Manager preview.
Can I deliver in 4K?
Creator and Pro export up to 4K; Starter exports 1080p. Meta's guide recommends 1440 x 2560 for Reels and Stories ads and TikTok asks for at least 720P, so follow the brief.
How do I make 4:5, 1:1 and 9:16 versions?
Cut each version in your video editor first, then caption each one. CapsAI keeps the shape of the file you upload and cannot crop, resize or reframe it. Each version is a separate upload and uses minutes for its own length.
How do client revisions work, and what do they cost?
Reopen the project from your workspace, change the words, timing or style, and export again. The first export of a project is included; each later export uses minutes equal to the video's length. At Starter rates ($4 for 20 minutes), a 30-second ad with one revision costs well under a dollar in minutes.
How long are projects kept?
For 3, 7 or 15 days depending on the pack, and 1 day on the free minutes. Download each final as you export it and keep the uncaptioned cut yourself.
Is there a watermark, and what does it cost?
Watermark-free export comes with every paid pack. Packs are paid once: Starter 20 minutes from $4 (₹49 in India, €4 in the euro area), Creator 60 minutes from $9, Pro 180 minutes from $19. Nothing renews.
Can I match a brand's fonts and colors?
Only partly. Each style comes with its own font; there are no custom fonts, brand kits or hex codes. Seven styles can be recolored from 12 preset swatches, and one swatch sets both text and highlight. For an exact brand font, add the text in your own editor.
Which languages are supported, and can it translate an ad?
Captions come out in the language spoken: English, Hinglish, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada or Punjabi. There is no translation and no SRT download. CapsAI's English has been used most on Indian English; for other accents, run one ad through the 3 free minutes and read the draft.
How long does it take?
A few minutes for a 15 to 60 second ad. Checking claims and names against the brief takes longer than the machine steps.
What Meta and TikTok say about captions in ads
As of 19 October 2026, Meta's ads guide lists "Video captions: Optional, but recommended" for Instagram Reels and Stories video ads, at 9:16 and a recommended 1440 x 2560. TikTok's "Creative best practices for performance ads" asks for 9:16, at least 720P, content inside the UI safe zone and a "DIY or not overly polished style so that it fits in with the user-generated content on TikTok". It also says to put the hook in the first 6 seconds and use captions or text overlays for context.
None of that promises a result, and we make no claim about how captions move an ad's numbers. It does settle the job: the first caption carries the hook on mute, claims read correctly, and the text stays clear of the interface.
Keeping captions clear of the ad interface
Meta's specs for 9:16 Reels and Stories ads ask advertisers to leave roughly 14% of the top, 35% of the bottom and 6% of each side free of text and logos, where the profile icon and call-to-action sit. Its Safe Zone article adds that Reels ads with a disclaimer should keep the bottom 40% clear, and that taller screens may zoom an ad, cropping anything outside the safe zone. For 4:5 or 1:1 Feed ads, keep the bottom and side edges clear.
CapsAI's editor sets caption height with one slider, from 50% (the middle of the frame) to 90% (near the bottom); styles open at 71% to 80%, inside the bottom 35% of a 9:16 ad. Move it to about 50 to 60%, keep each caption to one or two lines, and check the preview on your own footage.
Delivering captioned UGC to a brand
Most briefs ask for several versions: two or three hooks, a 9:16 and a 4:5 cut, sometimes one without captions. Caption each cut as its own upload, and price a round of re-exports into the quote. Starter exports 1080p; Creator and Pro export up to 4K.
Projects are kept for 3, 7 or 15 days depending on the pack, so treat CapsAI as the captioning step, not the archive. Packs are paid once and never renew, which suits a creator who delivers ten ads one month and none the next.
