Caption generator
Eklipse Alternative
Eklipse is made for streamers. You connect Twitch, YouTube or Kick, and it watches past broadcasts for you, scoring moments from gameplay events, audio spikes and chat reaction, then turns the best ones into 9:16 clips with captions and can post them to TikTok, Shorts and Reels. Its help center, read on 21 October 2026, calls it "a paid app": signing up lets you preview clips from one recent stream, and exports need Premium at $24.99 a month or $179.99 a year. CapsAI never connects to your channel and cannot spot a highlight in a Twitch VOD by itself. What it does is caption the video you bring. Save a clip or a VOD section as an MP4, upload it, and the caption editor gives it one of 37 styles; a recording of up to 120 minutes can go through Smart-Clips first to be cut into scored vertical clips. Caption packs cost $4, $9 or $19 (₹49, ₹99, ₹299 in India; €4, €9, €19 in the euro area) and are paid once.
Start with 3 free minutes. Watermark-free export comes with every paid pack.

What the captions look like
Clutch round callout
One HP. Three of them. Watch this.
Beast (free) sets bright green comic caps with a thick black outline and a hard shadow, loud enough to sit over busy gameplay.
Scoreline moment
That makes 27 wins in a row on stream.
Counter (Pro) shows the number huge and counts it up from zero. Type figures as digits in the caption text so there is something to count.
Chat reaction read aloud
Chat is calling it a fluke. Run it back.
Neue Black (Pro) keeps white heavy caps and turns each spoken word cyan; Poppins Italic is the free karaoke pick with an orange spoken word.
Patch notes rant
They nerfed the one gun nobody was using.
Add AI Sound Effects on the Funny vibe and a reaction sound may land on the punchline. Move, swap or delete it before export.

Its free-plan wording differs between articles, so both versions are given. CapsAI figures come from capsai.co the same day; no price is quoted for Smart-Clips minutes.

How it works
How it works
Step 1
Decide whether you need automatic detection
If you want highlights found in your Twitch, YouTube or Kick streams without lifting a finger, Eklipse does that and CapsAI does not. If you already know which moments you want, or a clip from chat or a mod points you to them, CapsAI can caption them.
Step 2
Save the clip or VOD as an MP4
Download the clip or the past broadcast from your channel's creator tools. Short clips go straight to the caption editor, which takes videos up to 10 minutes. For a longer VOD, cut a section of up to 120 minutes for Smart-Clips; a full evening stream will need to be split.
Step 3
Let Smart-Clips cut a long section, if you have one
Upload the section on the Smart-Clips page, pick a clip length, and add a "Find clips about" prompt such as a boss fight or a giveaway. You get 9:16 clips with plain white captions and a score with a reason. Streams where you talk through the action give it more to score.
Step 4
Style the captions
Open the clip in the caption editor, correct player names, game terms and numbers, and pick one of 37 styles. The editor will not crop, so a 16:9 clip uploaded there stays 16:9. Add AI Sound Effects if the moment wants a sting.
Step 5
Export and post it yourself
Export the MP4 with captions burned in and upload it to TikTok, Shorts or Reels. CapsAI does not post or schedule. Projects are deleted after 3, 7 or 15 days by pack, so keep your downloads.

Questions
Is Eklipse free?
Not for exporting, according to its own help center on 21 October 2026. The "Is Eklipse free or paid?" article, updated 13 August 2026, says "Eklipse is a paid app": sign-up is free and scans one recent stream so you can preview its clips, and exports need Premium. Older articles still describe 3 free Twitch VOD credits for new accounts and a small watermark on free-tier exports, and the home page FAQ mentions 3 clips per stream. CapsAI gives a new account 3 free caption minutes.
How much does Eklipse Premium cost?
Its help center lists $24.99 a month, $112.99 every 6 months or $179.99 a year on the web, which it puts at about $14.99 a month on the yearly plan. In the iOS and Android apps the monthly price is $27.99. Premium includes 20 Twitch VOD credits a month on the monthly plan, 1080p 60fps exports without a watermark, templates and scheduling. CapsAI packs cost $4, $9 or $19 once.
Can CapsAI find highlights in my Twitch VOD automatically?
Not from Twitch. CapsAI does not connect to Twitch, YouTube or Kick and has no view of your chat. If you download a VOD section of up to 120 minutes and upload it, Smart-Clips will cut and score vertical clips from it, but it has no gameplay detection listed. For hands-off highlights read from game events and chat, Eklipse is the better fit.
How do I caption a Twitch clip with CapsAI?
Download the clip as an MP4, upload it to the caption editor, choose the spoken language and generate. Fix any names or game terms, pick a style and export the MP4 with captions burned in. The editor keeps the clip's 16:9 shape; it has no crop or reframe. Our Twitch clip captions page walks through the whole route.
Does CapsAI export SRT files or translate captions?
No. The only output is an MP4 with the captions burned in, and captions come out in the spoken language, one of 11. Eklipse's caption help asks you to choose the spoken language, but the pages read for this comparison did not say whether it translates or exports subtitle files.
Which languages does CapsAI caption?
English, Hinglish, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada and Punjabi. Smart-Clips can detect the language; the caption uploader asks you to pick it. Run a short clip through the 3 free minutes and read the draft before you commit.
Does CapsAI post to TikTok or YouTube Shorts for me?
No. You download the MP4 and upload it yourself, or hand it to a scheduler you already use. Eklipse posts directly to TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels and Discord, with scheduling on Premium.
What export quality does each give?
Eklipse lists 720p on free and up to 1080p at 60fps on Premium, without a watermark. CapsAI exports 1080p on the Starter pack and up to 4K on Creator and Pro, and watermark-free export comes with every paid pack.
Are there other clipping tools to compare?
Yes. If you do not stream and want clips from podcasts or talks, our Klap, Opus Clip and Vizard alternative pages compare those subscriptions with Smart-Clips in the same way.
What Eklipse does that CapsAI cannot
The core of Eklipse is the channel connection. It reads past broadcasts from Twitch, YouTube and Kick without a download, handles Twitch and Kick streams up to six hours, and ranks moments using game events and chat as well as audio. Its AI Edit page describes a crop that tracks the crosshair, the killfeed and your facecam as it turns 16:9 into 9:16. Then it posts to TikTok, Shorts, Reels and more, schedules on Premium, and offers live clipping and a posting assistant on its higher tier. CapsAI has none of that. If you stream several nights a week and want highlights waiting each morning, Eklipse is built for exactly that.
Where CapsAI fits for a streamer
CapsAI picks up after the clip exists. Plenty of streamers already have their moments: a mod clipped them, chat flagged them, or you remember the round. For those, the job is clean captions that survive a busy game screen, and that is where 37 styles, word-level editing and AI Sound Effects come in. You pay for caption minutes in packs of 20, 60 or 180, charged by each video's length, and any pack bought once also unlocks every Pro style.
Smart-Clips is the middle ground for a long recording. It accepts up to 120 minutes, so a long stream goes in as a few sections, each charged in full to the Smart-Clips balance. It never sees chat, so streams where you talk through the action give it the most to work with.
Monthly plan or pay once
Eklipse Premium is a subscription: $24.99 a month, or $179.99 if you pay for the year, and the help center says its annual plan saves $119.89 against paying monthly. It earns that when you stream every week and use the detection, templates and posting. For someone who streams a few times a month and posts a handful of clips, a $4 or $9 pack of caption minutes may cover the month, with no plan running in the background.
