CapsAI

Caption generator

Klap Alternative

Klap sells clips by the month. You drop in a file or paste a YouTube link, its AI picks the strongest topics, reframes each one to 9:16, adds animated subtitles and can publish or schedule the result to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn. On 21 October 2026 klap.app offered one free video, then Basic at $14 a month for 100 clips, Pro at $39 for 300 and Pro+ at $94 for 1,000, every price marked "Billed yearly". CapsAI splits the same job in two. Smart-Clips takes an MP4 or MOV recording of up to 120 minutes and hands back vertical clips, each with a score, a reason and simple white captions. Any clip you keep opens in the caption editor, where 37 styles, word fixes and AI Sound Effects turn it into a finished MP4. Caption minutes come in packs of $4, $9 or $19 (₹49, ₹99, ₹299 in India; €4, €9, €19 in the euro area), bought once. All Klap details below were read on klap.app that day.

Klap figures come from klap.app, klap.app/pricing, klap.app/tools/ai-clip-maker, klap.app/alternatives/vizard-ai and docs.klap.app, read on 21 October 2026, in US dollars. Its pages disagree on the Pro price ($39 on the pricing page, $29 in the home-page FAQ) and on the name of the $14 tier (Basic or Starter); both are shown. Monthly-billed prices are not in the page text. CapsAI figures come from capsai.co the same day; no price is quoted for Smart-Clips minutes.

What you get

  • No yearly commitment: caption packs start at $4 (₹49 in India, €4 in the euro area) and never renew
  • Every Smart-Clips result carries a score and a plain-language reason, so ranking takes seconds
  • English, Hinglish and nine South Asian languages, with auto-detect in Smart-Clips
  • 37 caption styles, 8 free to export, plus AI Sound Effects in every account
  • Runs in a desktop or phone browser with nothing to install

Where it helps

  • Creators who post a few clips a week and would rather not prepay a year of clips
  • Podcasters who speak Hinglish and want it captioned in Roman script, the way it was said
  • Coaches cutting webinar recordings they already have on disk
  • Editors who want styled captions on a clip that another tool, Klap included, already cut

How it works

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Check what you would lose

If you clip straight from YouTube or Twitch links, work with files longer than two hours, need captions in a language outside CapsAI's 11, or rely on Klap to post on a schedule, stay with Klap or a tool that does the same. CapsAI suits people who hold their own recordings and post by hand.

  2. Step 2

    Upload the recording to Smart-Clips

Choose the MP4 or MOV on the Smart-Clips page; it can run to 120 minutes. Leave the language on auto-detect or set it, pick Auto or a clip length, and type a topic into the prompt if you only want one theme. Minutes come off the Smart-Clips balance for the whole file.

  3. Step 3

Keep the clips that stand alone

Each result arrives vertical, captioned in white and scored, with a sentence on why. Watch the top-scored ones first and skip any that start mid-thought or lean on context the viewer never saw.

  4. Step 4

    Restyle the keepers

Open a clip in the caption editor, fix names, brands and figures, then choose one of 37 styles. Add AI Sound Effects if the moment needs a beat. Opening a clip there uses caption minutes for its length, from a pack paid once.

  5. Step 5

    Download and publish

Export the MP4 with captions and any sounds built in, then post it from your phone or your own scheduler. Download it soon: projects are removed after 3, 7 or 15 days depending on the pack.

Questions

Is Klap free?

Partly. On 21 October 2026 Klap's FAQ said you can "create 1 video for free", and its AI clip maker page said "No credit card required" and that Klap "never adds watermarks, even on the free plan". After that one video you need a plan: Basic $14, Pro $39 or Pro+ $94 a month, billed yearly. CapsAI starts every new account with 3 free caption minutes.

How much does Klap cost?

Klap's pricing page listed Basic at $14 a month for 100 clips, Pro at $39 for 300 clips and Pro+ at $94 for 1,000 clips, all "Billed yearly", with a toggle promising "Save 50%". Its home-page FAQ still said Klap Pro costs "$29/month", so check the checkout before you pay. The page says you "only pay for clips you generate". CapsAI packs cost $4, $9 or $19 once.

Is there a free Klap alternative?

Not a free one for regular use. CapsAI gives 3 free caption minutes to try the editor; after that you buy a pack. Smart-Clips uses its own minute balance, shown in the workspace, and this page does not quote a price for it. If cost is the main worry, compare one month of your real output against a $4, $9 or $19 pack.

Can CapsAI clip from a YouTube or Twitch link like Klap?

No. CapsAI takes uploaded MP4 or MOV files only, so download your own recording first. Klap accepts links from YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch, Google Drive, Dailymotion, Facebook, Zoom, Loom and Riverside, and sources up to 4 hours long, against 120 minutes in Smart-Clips. If you clip other people's uploads by link every day, Klap fits that habit better.

Does CapsAI reframe and post clips automatically?

Smart-Clips reframes to 9:16 when it cuts the clips; the caption editor never changes the frame. Nothing is posted for you: you download the MP4 and upload it yourself. Klap lists publishing and scheduling to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn, unlimited social accounts, analytics and an API.

How many languages do Klap and CapsAI caption?

Klap says it "edits and transcribes videos in 52 languages". CapsAI captions 11: English, Hinglish, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada and Punjabi. CapsAI does not translate, and it has no SRT or VTT download; the captions are burned into the MP4. This page could not confirm from Klap's pages whether Klap translates or exports subtitle files.

Do CapsAI exports have a watermark?

Watermark-free export comes with every paid pack, starting with the $4 Starter pack. Starter exports at 1080p, and Creator and Pro go up to 4K. Klap says it never adds watermarks, and its compare page lists 4K as its top export quality.

Klap or Opus Clip: which is closer to CapsAI?

Both are clipping subscriptions with link import and auto-posting, so neither works quite like CapsAI's pay-once packs. Our Klap vs Opus Clip post sets their plans and free tiers side by side, and the Opus Clip alternative page compares Opus with Smart-Clips the way this page does for Klap.

Where Klap is ahead

Klap's strongest point is intake. A link from YouTube, Twitch, Vimeo, Zoom, Loom or Riverside goes straight in, sources can run four hours, and six file types are accepted. CapsAI wants a downloaded MP4 or MOV, caps Smart-Clips at 120 minutes and the caption editor at 10. Klap also handles the end of the chain: content-aware reframing on every clip, posting and scheduling to four networks, analytics, an API, automation through Zapier, Make and n8n, and storage its compare page calls indefinite. It transcribes 52 languages to CapsAI's 11. If those jobs fill your week, the Klap subscription earns its price.

Klap also states that its one free video carries no watermark. On CapsAI, the free start is 3 caption minutes, and watermark-free export comes with every paid pack from $4.

Clips billed by the year, minutes bought once

Klap meters output: 100, 300 or 1,000 clips a month, with the listed prices tied to yearly billing. That is good value when you publish every day and poor value when a channel posts in bursts. CapsAI meters caption minutes instead. A pack of 20, 60 or 180 minutes costs $4, $9 or $19, takes videos up to 10 minutes long and unlocks all 29 Pro styles; Smart-Clips minutes sit in their own balance. Nothing renews, so a quiet month costs nothing.

Storage runs the other way. Klap's compare page says projects stay on every plan with no end date; CapsAI deletes them after 3, 7 or 15 days by pack. Save finished MP4s to your own drive.

What the caption editor adds after the cut

Smart-Clips captions are deliberately plain: white words, burned in, readable. The point of opening a clip in the editor is the look. The 37 styles include karaoke styles where the spoken word changes color, lockups that stack a phrase in slots of different sizes, editorial title cards such as Frost, and the cut-out letter look of Retro. Fonts and motion belong to each style; seven take a color swatch. AI Sound Effects then read the caption words and drop sounds from a 193-sound library where they fit, and you can move, swap or mute each one before export.
