AI Caption Generator for Video, Checked Word by Word

AI captions are the words on a video that software writes for you from the speech. A speech recognition model turns what is said into text, gives every word a start and an end time, and a captioning tool then draws those words on the picture in a style. CapsAI is an AI caption generator for video that does all three for a file you upload in the browser: one MP4 or MOV of up to 10 minutes, spoken in English or one of 10 Indian languages, with each word open to correction before you export a single MP4 with the captions burned in. A new account gets 3 free minutes to generate and edit captions, exporting uses a one-time pack from ₹49 ($4, €4), and exports never carry a watermark. One thing first: some people who search "ai captions" want the text written under an Instagram or TikTok post, not words on the video. CapsAI does not write post text. This page is about captions inside the video itself.

Third-party facts read from each vendor's own help page on 4 November 2026 (TikTok accessibility, Instagram Reels closed captions, YouTube automatic captions, CapCut "How Do I Recognise Subtitles?", dated 30 January 2026). CapsAI facts as of the same day.

What you get

  • Captions that travel with the file to TikTok, Reels, Shorts, LinkedIn or a website
  • A draft you control, with every word and every timing open to change before anything is rendered
  • Animated looks, from words that light up as they are spoken to bold pop-ins, alongside plain white text
  • Emoji Sync and AI sound effects placed on caption words, in the same editor
  • Minutes paid once from ₹49 ($4, €4), no watermark on any export and no subscription

Where it helps

  • Creators who post one clip to three platforms and want identical captions on each
  • Founders recording product demos full of names a speech model misspells
  • Podcasters cutting short clips where two or three voices overlap
  • Anyone editing on a computer, where Instagram says its own Reels auto captions are not available

How it works

How it works

  1. Step 1

Open CapsAI in any browser and sign in

Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox on a computer, Safari on an iPhone, Chrome on Android. Sign in with Google or an email code. There is nothing to install.

  2. Step 2

    Upload the finished video

One MP4 or MOV of up to 10 minutes, 500 MB on a free account or 10 GB with a pack. An iPhone HEVC .MOV goes up as recorded. Links and audio-only files are not accepted, so save the video to your device first.

  3. Step 3

Tell it the language being spoken

English is preselected here. If the speech is Hindi, Tamil, Hinglish or another supported language, choose it before the AI runs. The captions are written in that language, with no translation.

  4. Step 4

Read the draft and correct it

Every caption is editable. Retype a misheard name, split a line where two people talk at once, and type a new start or end time in seconds if a caption arrives early or late.

  5. Step 5

Pick a style and export one MP4

Choose from 37 styles, move the captions up or down, then export. The words are rendered into the picture at 1080p on Starter or up to 4K on Creator and Pro, and the MP4 downloads to your device. Exporting uses a one-time pack, and the MP4 has no watermark.

Questions

What are AI captions?

Captions written by software rather than typed by a person. A speech recognition model listens to the audio, writes down the words, and times each one to the moment it is spoken. A captioning tool then shows those words on the video. Because quality depends on the audio, you want a draft you can fix.

Can CapsAI write AI captions for my Instagram post?

No. If you mean the text that sits under a post, with hashtags and a hook, CapsAI does not write that. It puts captions of the spoken words into the video itself.

How accurate are AI captions?

It depends on the recording. YouTube's own help page warns that automatic captions can misrepresent speech because of mispronunciations, accents, dialects or background noise. CapsAI does not quote an accuracy figure. Instead, every word is editable, and the 3 free minutes let you test your own voice and room before you buy.

TikTok and Instagram make captions automatically. Why burn them in?

Platform captions are made and shown inside that one app, for that one post. Post the same video somewhere else and they do not come with it, and the look is the platform's, not yours. Burned-in captions are part of the picture: they appear the same everywhere, in the style you picked, including where a platform makes none.

Is this AI caption generator free?

You can start free: a new account gets 3 free minutes to upload, generate and edit captions with the 8 free styles. Exporting the captioned MP4 needs a one-time pack: Starter 20 minutes ₹49 ($4, €4), Creator 60 minutes ₹99 ($9, €9) or Pro 180 minutes ₹299 ($19, €19), and nothing renews.

Can I download the AI captions as an SRT file?

Not from the web editor: it exports one MP4 with the captions burned in, and there is no SRT, VTT or TXT download. The only route to an SRT file is the CapsAI connector for Claude, where the get_transcript tool returns the video's transcript as SRT subtitles.

Which languages do the AI captions support?

Eleven spoken languages: English, Hinglish, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada and Punjabi. You choose one per video and the captions come out in that language, with no translation. CapsAI's English has been used most on Indian English; for other accents, run your own clip through the 3 free minutes and read the draft before you commit.

Does CapsAI do live AI captions for streams or calls?

No. CapsAI captions recorded video files only, not live streams, meetings or calls. Record first, save the file, then upload it.

Which styles animate word by word, and are they free?

Pop Out lights each word as it is said, and Sapphire, Glint and Frost are among the other looks in the packs; all four come with any paid pack. The 8 free styles include Beast and Poppins Italic. The caption styles page shows all 37 moving, so you can choose before you upload.

Is there an AI caption generator for video with no watermark?

Yes. CapsAI exports never carry a watermark: you generate and edit captions with 3 free minutes, and exporting the captioned MP4 uses a one-time pack from ₹49 ($4, €4).

How do I add AI captions to a video?

Upload one MP4 or MOV of up to 10 minutes, choose the language being spoken, and CapsAI writes timed captions you can correct word by word. Pick one of 37 styles, then export one MP4 with the captions burned in; exporting uses a one-time pack.

Can AI generate captions from audio?

Yes, from the speech in your video's sound track: CapsAI listens to the audio of an MP4 or MOV and writes timed captions from it. Audio-only files such as MP3 or WAV are not accepted, so the upload has to be a video.

Can I add emojis to AI captions?

Yes. You can add emoji to any caption from the emoji picker on any plan, and Emoji Sync, in the Creator and Pro packs, places emoji on caption words for you in the same editor.

Can I make AI captions for a video in Hindi or Urdu?

Yes. Pick Hindi or Urdu as the spoken language before the AI runs: Hindi captions come out in Devanagari and Urdu captions in the Urdu script. CapsAI does not translate, so Hindi speech gives Hindi captions, not English ones.

Can I use AI captions on Instagram Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts?

Yes. The captions are burned into the MP4, so they look the same on Reels, TikTok, Shorts or any other site you upload to. You can move them up or down in the editor to keep them clear of each platform's buttons.

Do I need to sign up to use the AI caption generator?

Yes, a quick sign-in with Google or an email code. That account holds your 3 free minutes, and there is nothing to install on a phone or computer.

What video formats does the AI caption generator accept?

MP4 and MOV, one video at a time, up to 10 minutes long. Files can be up to 500 MB on a free account or 10 GB with a pack, and an iPhone .MOV goes up as recorded.

What is the best AI caption generator for video?

The right one depends on your video: check that the tool handles the language you speak, lets you fix every word, gives the output you need (a burned-in MP4 or an SRT file) and charges in a way that suits you, by subscription or once. CapsAI fits burned-in captions in English or an Indian language, paid once with no watermark on exports; if you need an SRT file or translation, choose a tool that offers them.

Can I use these AI captions in CapCut, Premiere Pro or Canva?

Not as a plugin: CapsAI runs on its own in the browser. Export your edit as an MP4 or MOV, upload it here for captions, and the captioned MP4 you download can go back into your editor or straight to a platform.

Is CapsAI the same as Captions AI?

No. Captions is a separate company with its own app and AI video editor, while CapsAI is a browser-based caption tool that burns captions into an MP4. The Captions vs CapsAI page compares the two.

How AI captions are made, in three passes

The first pass is speech to text. A speech recognition model hears the audio and writes the most likely words. It needs the language in advance, which is why CapsAI and TikTok both ask for it. Clean audio gives a clean draft.

The second pass is timing. Each word gets a start and an end time, so a caption appears when it is spoken and leaves when it is done. Word-level timing is what lets a style light up the word being said. In CapsAI you can retype those times in seconds.

The third pass is styling, and it is where tools differ most. A platform shows its own caption box. A captioning tool lets you choose font, colour, position and motion, then renders the words into the picture. That rendered version is what people mean when they say captions are burned in.

Where AI captions go wrong, and the fix

Four things trip every speech model: names the model has rarely heard, accents and slang, music or noise under the voice, and crosstalk, two people talking at once, which YouTube's help page lists as a case where automatic captions may be missing, alongside its warning that they can misrepresent speech because of "mispronunciations, accents, dialects, or background noise".

The fix is not a better guess, it is a pass with your own eyes. YouTube's advice is to "Always review automatic captions and edit any parts that haven't been properly transcribed", and that holds for any tool. CapsAI opens the draft in an editor where every word can be retyped and every timing changed before export, so a misheard name is a quick retype rather than a reshoot.

Captions built into TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and CapCut

You may not need a separate tool at all. TikTok's help page says "Captions will be automatically generated for videos that you upload" on eligible videos, in the language you pick before posting, and a creator can tap a caption, choose Edit captions, and change or remove lines. Instagram says it "uses speech recognition technology to automatically create closed captions for Reels", though the feature "isn't available on computers". Instagram's Edits app can also generate captions: you choose the language being spoken and a style, then edit the text. YouTube makes automatic captions with speech recognition too, corrected in YouTube Studio. CapCut's Auto Captions run on the web, desktop and mobile, and the help article says you can edit timing, text or style afterwards.

Each is a good answer when the video lives in one place. The catch is portability. A platform's captions belong to that post on that platform, and the next platform starts from nothing. An editor app keeps them in its own project, so the captions are only as portable as the export you make there. If you post one clip to several places, or want the same look everywhere, burning the captions into the file once is the simpler route. Our guide to Instagram auto captions covers Instagram's own route step by step.

What you get when CapsAI burns them in

You get one MP4 with the captions drawn into the picture: 1080p on Starter and up to 4K on Creator and Pro. Pick from 37 styles, 8 of them free, the rest with any pack: plain blocks for interviews, karaoke styles such as Pop Out that light each word as it is spoken, and newer looks such as Sapphire, Glint and Frost. Emoji Sync brings emoji into the captions, and AI Sound Effects can be placed on caption words in the same editor. The full set moves on the caption styles page.

What you do not get is just as plain. There is no SRT, VTT or TXT download from the editor; the Claude connector is the only way to an SRT file. There is no translation, live captioning or link import. Projects are kept for 1 day on free minutes and 3, 7 or 15 days by pack, so save the MP4 you want to keep.

AI captions with no watermark: what is free and what you pay for

Every export from CapsAI is watermark-free. A new account gets 3 free minutes to upload a video, generate the AI captions, fix the words and try the 8 free styles, so you can judge the draft on your own voice before you pay anything.

Exporting the finished MP4 uses one of the one-time packs from ₹49: Starter 20 minutes for ₹49 ($4, €4), Creator 60 minutes for ₹99 ($9, €9) or Pro 180 minutes for ₹299 ($19, €19). Nothing renews and there is no subscription. Every pack exports with no watermark and opens all 37 styles.

AI captions for Reels, Shorts and TikTok videos

For a Reel, Short or TikTok, upload the finished vertical clip, pick the spoken language, and choose a word-by-word or karaoke style that lights each word as it is said. Emoji can go on any caption, and Emoji Sync in the Creator and Pro packs adds emoji captions for you in the same editor.

Because the captions are burned into the MP4, the same file posts to Instagram, YouTube and TikTok with identical captions. Move them up or down so they sit clear of each platform's buttons. CapsAI writes the words spoken in the video, not the text under a post. More on captions for Instagram Reels and TikTok captions.

AI captions in Hindi, Urdu, Bengali and other Indian languages

Choose the language spoken in your video before the AI runs: English, Hindi, Hinglish, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada or Punjabi. The captions are written in that language. There is no translation and no auto-detect, so pick the language you actually speak.

If your video is in one of these languages, the pages for Hindi auto captions, Urdu auto captions and Bangla captions cover it in more detail.

Adding AI captions in CapCut, Premiere Pro or Canva instead

CapCut, Premiere Pro, Canva and DaVinci Resolve all offer automatic captions in some form, and if your whole edit lives in one of them, that is often the quickest route. Our guides to Premiere Pro captions and CapCut auto captions walk through them.

CapsAI is not a plugin for any of them. Export your edit as an MP4, upload it here, fix the words and pick a style, and the captioned MP4 goes back into your editor or straight to the platform. The comparisons with CapCut, Premiere Pro, Canva and DaVinci Resolve set the two routes side by side.
